Controversial Solo Leveling Studio Faces Public Outcry in South Korea

You know that awesome new anime, Solo Leveling? Well, it’s been making waves with its amazing animation and catchy opening song. But guess what? It’s also been caught up in some serious drama!

It all started when fans in Korea discovered that Studio PPURI was involved in making the Solo Leveling anime. People were not happy about it, and they made their voices heard. The studio’s track record wasn’t exactly squeaky clean, so the producers decided to remove their name from the credits. Talk about a shocker!

Why Was Studio PPURI Sacked?

Now, let’s get into the nitty-gritty. Studio PPURI, the ones behind the cool opening theme song “LEveL,” got into some hot water. They were accused of including ‘anti-men’ gestures in their works and having ties to a feminist group called Megalia. This group has a bad reputation in certain parts of Korea because they expose misogynistic behavior online.

Basically, Megalia focuses on putting down Korean men based on their appearance. And guess what? Studio PPURI was accused of sneaking this gesture into their works, including the Solo Leveling anime opening. That’s why they got kicked out. But don’t worry, this only affected the show’s distribution in Korea.

Financial Concerns and Fan Criticism

So, why did they really remove Studio PPURI? Well, it seems like it wasn’t just because of the fans’ complaints. The publishers of Solo Leveling, D&C Media, were also worried about their money. They saw a big drop in their stock price, more than 10% in just one day!

What Does This Mean for the Anime?

Okay, here’s the good news. Studio PPURI’s departure won’t affect the production of the anime at all. The only change you’ll notice is in the post-credit scene, where the studio won’t be credited anymore. But don’t worry, you can still watch the awesome opening on YouTube and other platforms.

Is It Discrimination?

Some people think this whole situation is just another example of discrimination. They believe that the Japanese industry has something against foreign companies like Studio PPURI. But hey, let’s not jump to conclusions. The Solo Leveling anime is still going strong on Crunchyroll, and you can catch new episodes every Saturday!
