Garena recently announced some big news for Free Fire World Series 2024. They have introduced a revamped esports system that will bring some exciting changes. One of the major updates is that all local leagues will now be a part of the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) branding.
This change is aimed at improving the esports ecosystem of Free Fire by creating a standardized tournament branding. It will also help in promoting a clear identity for the game’s global audience.
Under the new system, each local FFWS league will lead to the FFWS Global Finals in November. The complete schedule for 2024, including the location of the Global Finals and the lineup of international events, will be revealed soon.
Free Fire is introducing a brand new regional league called FFWS Southeast Asia (SEA) 2024. This league will provide a bigger platform for aspiring pro teams and players to showcase their skills.
FFWS Southeast Asia (SEA) 2024 will consist of two major tournaments: FFWS SEA Spring and FFWS SEA Fall. These tournaments will feature a total of 18 teams, with 5 teams each from Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, and 3 teams from Malaysia. The teams will be selected through direct invitations or local qualifiers.
The slot for Malaysia will include 2 directly invited teams and 1 qualifying team from FFWS Malaysia Spring 2024, which was previously known as the (Malaysia, Cambodia, Philippines, Sri Lanka) MCPS Majors.
FFWS SEA Spring 2024 will take place from March 22 to May 26, with a prize pool of USD 300,000. The tournament will kick off with six weekends of online matches, followed by a thrilling Grand Final weekend from May 24 to 26.
The local qualifiers for FFWS SEA Spring 2024 will be held between January and February. If you’re interested, you can register for FFWS Malaysia in late January, and the League Stage will begin in February.
