NIS America just dropped a new trailer announcing that the Ys X: Nordics game will be coming to the West in Fall 2024. Get ready to play on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC via Steam, PC via Epic Games Store, Nintendo, and GOG.
This game is part of the popular Ys RPG series by Nihon Falcom. It was first released in Japan for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on September 28.
Set in an archipelago in Obelia Bay, the game follows protagonist Adol Christin as he gets caught up in the troubles of the seafaring Normans. He must also face a new threat called “Griegers,” undead creatures causing chaos among humans.
Players can now enjoy “Solo Mode” combat, where they control one character with automatic support from another. There’s also “Combination Mode,” allowing players to control two characters at once. Plus, you can sail a ship to explore the seas and engage in epic ship-to-ship battles.
The last game in the series, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, was released in Japan for the PlayStation 4 in September 2019. NIS America brought it to North America and Europe in February 2021, followed by releases on PC and Nintendo Switch in July 2021. The PlayStation 5 version came out in North America and Europe in May 2023.
For those new to the series, Ys is a long-running action RPG franchise by Nihon Falcom Corporation. It all started back in 1987 with Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished for the NEC PC-8801 computer.
In each game, players follow Adol Christin, a brave swordsman with red hair, on his adventures through mystical lands. Expect fast-paced combat as Adol battles monsters, solves mysteries, and saves the world from disaster.
