Garena Free Fire, the super popular battle royale mobile game, is getting its very own anime adaptation. How cool is that?
Partnership for Success
The project was recently announced and is being funded by game developer Garena Online and Japanese media company Kadokawa. Aoba Kadokawa, Kadokawa’s overseas division based in China, will be in charge of making the anime.
What is Kadokawa?
Just so you know, Kadokawa is not an anime studio. They are a production company that provides funding to studios to create anime adaptations. Pretty neat, right?
Free Fire’s Massive Success
Since its launch in 2017, Free Fire has been a huge hit. It’s been one of the most downloaded mobile games worldwide from 2019 to 2021. At its peak, the game had over 100 million daily active users. That’s crazy!
Gameplay Overview
In Free Fire, 50 players are dropped onto an island and have to battle it out to be the last one standing. Players can choose where to start and need to stay in the safe zone while taking out their opponents. There are tons of weapons and vehicles to use for an advantage, and characters have special abilities to spice up the gameplay.
Exciting Times for Gamers
Just like the recent announcement of an anime project for Genshin Impact, Free Fire is joining the anime club. The possibilities for the story are endless with Free Fire’s colorful characters.
The anime will air in Japan and be available internationally, but we don’t know the exact details yet. One thing’s for sure – Free Fire fans will be hyped to watch it when it comes out.
Mobile Games Taking Over
Free Fire’s popularity and the upcoming anime show that mobile games are becoming big in the entertainment world. Mobile games are proving they can be just as successful as console and PC games with the potential to become multimedia franchises. How awesome is that?
