It’s been over a year since Season 1 of the anime ended, and we’ve all been eagerly waiting for Season 2. But guess what? Jump Festa 2024 surprised us with a movie announcement instead!
The movie will be adapting the highly anticipated “Reze Arc,” which was originally planned for Season 2. So get ready for an emotional rollercoaster!
During the Chainsaw Man panel at Jump Festa 2024, author Tatsuki Fujimoto had a special message for all of us. He revealed that the movie’s main characters, Denji and Reze, draw inspiration from the protagonist and heroine of the anime film “Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade.”
If you haven’t heard of it, “Jin Roh” is a Japanese anime film created by Mamoru Oshii in 1999. It takes place in an alternate history where Japan is occupied by Nazi Germany after World War II. The story follows a member of an elite anti-terrorist police unit who falls in love with the sister of a suicide bomber.
So, if you’re excited about the Chainsaw Man movie, make sure to check out “Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade” too!
Did you know that Tatsuki Fujimoto, the creator of Chainsaw Man, also enjoys watching and reading other anime and manga series? Here are some of his recommendations:
Anime: Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, FLCL Shoegaze
Manga: Midori no Yokantachi, Welcome Home Alice, School Back, Roca, PriaL, Utsukushi Kare, Chi No Wadachi, MamaYuyu
It seems like Fujimoto has a unique taste in entertainment, as the anime he recommended didn’t make it to the top 10 list for the highest-rated anime of Fall 2023.
Now that you know about “Jin Roh,” is it on your watch list? If you’ve already seen the film, we’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments section!
