EGOIST Says Goodbye

Japanese pop music duo EGOIST has officially disbanded on October 9, 2023. They had their final concert called EGOIST LIVE 2023 Resonant Indigo ‘Echoes of Everlasting’ 1009 YOKOHAMA, Kanagawa. It’s sad to see them go, but it’s good to know that in a part of our lives, we had experienced their awesomeness.

The Announcement

Back in August of this year (August 26, 2023), EGOIST announced on their official website that they were going to disband. It was truly surprising, however, it is something that bands normally goes through.

What’s Next?

Ryo, one of the members, shared on his private blog that he stopped composing songs in April. But don’t worry, Chelly, the other member, will continue her music career as a solo artist under the name Reche. Surely fans are waiting eagerly for her future releases.

A Brief History of EGOIST

EGOIST is made up of songwriter Ryo from Supercell and vocalist Chelly. They originally came together to create theme music for the anime TV series called Guilty Crown in 2011. Their first album, Extra terrestrial Biological Entities, was released in September 2012.

EGOIST is known for their amazing music. Some of their popular songs include “Departures” and “The Everlasting Guilty Crown” from Guilty Crown, “Namae no Nai Kaibutsu,” “All Alone With You,” “Fallen,” and “Tōjisha” from Psycho-Pass, “Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress” and “Sakase ya Sakase” from Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, “Eiyū: Unmei no Uta” from Fate/Apocrypha, “BANG!!!” and “Gold” from Build Divide, and “Zettai Zetsumei” from Azur Lane CN’s 4th Anniversary Song. They have created so many incredible tunes!

A 12-Year Journey

EGOIST has been making music for 12 years since they formed in 2011. It’s truly been a fantastic journey filled with creativity and talent. We will miss them, but we’re grateful for the amazing music they’ve given us over the years.
