Guess what, guys? Gōshō Aoyama is bringing back Magic Kaito with a brand new series! The 20th issue of Shogakukan’s Shonen Sunday magazine, coming out on April 10, will kick off this exciting return. This is to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Detective Conan’s serialization.
What to Expect
Get ready for a fresh character to join the Magic Kaito world! Aoyama has been working on this manga since 1988, with a few chapters released here and there. The last chapter came out in 2017, along with the fifth compiled volume. Kaito Kid, the main character, often crosses paths with Detective Conan and will play a big role in the upcoming Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram movie.
Back from Hiatus

The original Magic Kaito manga follows Kaito Kuroba, a young magician who takes after his late father, the famous thief Kaitō Kid. Kaito Kid is a key player in the Detective Conan universe and often challenges Conan himself.
Adaptations and More
The Magic Kaito manga was turned into TV specials in 2011. Aoyama first launched the manga in 1987 before pausing it in 1988. Since then, the manga has had a sporadic release schedule. In 2014, A-1 Pictures created an anime adaptation that was streamed on Crunchyroll.
Exciting Movie News
The 27th Detective Conan movie, Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram, will premiere in Japan on April 21, 2024. This film will finally reveal Kid’s secret that was never shown in the original manga.
Movie Synopsis
The movie will follow Kaito Kid as he targets a special Japanese sword connected to a historical figure. Meanwhile, Heiji Hattori and Conan find themselves in Hakodate for a kendo tournament. As the story unfolds, a mysterious swordsman and a treasure hunt add to the excitement!
